EDUCATION LIVES THROUGH A COMMUNITY THAT GIVES
"Every virtue carries with it its own reward, but none is as distinguished and paramount as generosity."
Communities in Schools is the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization with a focus on surrounding students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school, learn and prepare for life. For 18 years, Communities in Schools-Baytown has worked Goose Creek CISD, Barbers Hill ISD, Crosby ISD, Channelview ISD and Sheldon ISD to address underlying issues or challenges that hamper student success. CIS-Baytown takes a holistic approach to help K-12 students to succeed by addressing their physical, emotional and academic needs through specific services such as tutoring, mentoring, supportive guidance, college readiness, career preparation, after school enrichment activities, parent advocacy as well as health and human support services.
Communities in Schools of Baytown need your help to supplement our services and special projects for students attending our local schools. Your generosity will provide enrichment opportunities that can keep every student actively engaged in our program.
Each person, business or organization that commits to a donation of $500 or higher will receive recognition on our website, will be listed in our annual report and will receive a special certificate of appreciation acknowledging your generosity.

Volunteer. Make a Difference
To lower the nation’s dropout rate it is vital that citizens from the community become involved in the education of our students. The goal of the Communities In Schools –Baytown Volunteer, Tutor, Mentoring Initiative is to match volunteers with students to help them to become better students by overcoming academic and social problems that they may encounter. Organizing a school supply drive, serving as a mentor, volunteering to read to a student...there are as many ways to volunteer.
If you are interested in offering your support to Communities In Schools-Baytown by volunteering, please download and complete the Volunteer Form and email it to dchavez@gccisd.net or fax to 281-425-4495.

As a non-direct service volunteer, tutor, or mentor, your help can be valuable in reducing the odds of a student dropping out of school. In this role, you will be able to motivate students to stay in school, graduate, and find a career interest. You can also take pride in knowing that you made a difference in the lives of students.
